“ Mandan Man”
A one-of-a-kind original sculpture by Cheryl Bollenbach
17 inches
Mandan Man is dressed in clothing typical of the early to mid 1800’s. He wears a Crow feather bonnet of pigeon feathers that have been cut down (Over 200 of them) and hand painted to resemble crow feathers. He carries a hand-painted fan made of leather and feathers and a “wolf skin” made of recycled fur. His tunic and pants are hand painted leather decorated hand-woven strips of antique beads. White ermin skins hang from his tunic (yes, they are cut down from real ermin skins.) He wears necklaces of tiny antique seed beads.
His head, hands and feet are sculpted of polymer clay that has been hand-painted with meticulous detail in fine acrylic paint. The fabric body has been needle sculpted over a wire armature. He has a Mohair wig and a solid wood stand.
