The Blacksmith
A one-of-a-kind original sculpture by Cheryl D. Bollenbach
Smitty is dressed as a typical smithy from the 1800's. He wears cotton breeches, shirt, leather belt, shoes, suede leather apron and a wool hat all hand made by the artist from patterns miniaturized from 19th century clothing. He has hand made tools and horseshoe, as he works at an anvil attached to a real stump.
Smitty's head, hands and feet are made of polymer clay and hand painted with quality acrylic paints. His fabric body is needle sculpted over a sturdy wire armature and he is attached to a solid wood base.
